What to do when jealousy strikes

6/18/2013

Many of us are faced with the green eyed monster of envy...

...creative comparison.

When we are nurturing our art, often times we are looking at someone else who is "better" or "ahead of us" and feeling jealous of them and their talents, abilities, and creative accomplishments.

In this short video I talk about a productive way to handle that old jealous feeling.
Do you have any positive ways to work with those jealous feelings?

If so, share them in the comments below!

Amen girl! This is why the ego is here to TEACH us - even in those moments of discomfort and fear, there is a glimmer of light, and that glimmer is noticing what we want in others! Then the important step of course is to not wallow in that discomfort but let it prompt us to strive toward manifesting that in our own lives :).

Love this! You should always give yourself permission to suck at the beginning! :) (or middle and end)....using your jealousy is such a great idea, like a rocket booster! :)

Yes! I love the idea of giving yourself permission to suck at any point! It gives a lightheartedness to the approach that I think is really beneficial. Thanks, Vivian!

I love this reminder! "Pointing you towards your own desires to be considered good at something and makes something beautiful in the world" - love it.

I just read somewhere how spending anytime focusing on negativity kills the brain/mind from nurturing creativity.

Soul of an artist - I'm inspired! Keep sharing your light Court!

I completely believe that about the negativity! I can say with absolute affirmation that my negative thoughts do not lend at all to productivity, let alone affirm my creativity. They can birth new perspectives, but not when continued in a "stuck-in-a-rut" type of fashion, only when used to grow. Thanks for checking it out, Marianne! I appreciate your insights!

Productive always wins out at the end of the day. One of my favorite sayings is "don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle." Now I know that the other "middles" or "ends" are just confirmation that I can get there too!

Yes, Tamsen! We never know what humble beginnings others came from to be where they are! You are so right about the "middles" or "ends" being confirmation that it is in fact 'possible' after all!
