Times of training

"To feed or protect during a period of development and training... to nurture young artists or musicians..." These are the phrases you see in the definition of the word "nurture". It is interesting that inherent to the word "nurture" is the idea of a development of young artists. I suppose then, it is also interesting to assume that artists need this period of training and food and protection in their undeveloped time, means their must be an period of being young and undeveloped.

I would take the idea further to say that perhaps it is not just about being young and needing protection and nourishment then, but also that we go through many, endless, possible stages of growth where we need this "nurture" to keep us going and to help push us forward into our next project or idea or new skill set. I definitely see myself in a stage such as that myself in particular right now. I'm not sure if we ever really get "there" or find that perfect sweet spot, but maybe we find a balance of our art work and life that is a sweet spot of ever developing stages taking us to places we could never have or could only have imagined.

I am in a stage right now of transition, trying to re-prioritize my life to better nurture my art. It is busy right now, as I feel like I have a lot of systems going currently to make this happen. I am hoping that it is like running, that once you get used to the way it all works, it feels comfortable and you can begin to think about going the distance after all. I just have to condition myself to breath...
