I love this quote from artist Morgan O'Hara:
"Listen to what you are telling yourself. Accept who you are. Pay attention to what you have been telling yourself since you were a child, because all the seeds you need for your work are right there." These simple words have had a deep impact on me. We are bombarded with so many voices in this world proclaiming that we must listen to them,"Buy this, do this, try this, be like this, follow these rules, fit in by doing this, etc." that we often lose the ability to listen to what we are telling ourselves. Over time our own voices become so covered up with other voices, that we no longer use them and forget that we have them. We lose that connection with our internal selves, the deeper part of ourselves that has been telling us our truth about us for a long time, but we don't have the time or ability to listen. We have been told that voice is not as important as these other voices. If you are trying to nurture your creativity and find your art; listen to what you are telling yourself. Listen to what you have been telling yourself since you were a young child, what you have been telling yourself your whole life. There is a lot there. A lot that is important to you and who you are and who you want to be. Thus, nurturing your creativity tip#3 is born, listen to what you are telling yourself.
