Some of you may be surprised to find that I have skipped the country. Not for too long, but for a week or so more, I'll be here in Cuyutlan, Mexico staying in the home of some good friends.
First of all, I must say that I cannot believe I have ever ridden on an airplane wearing anything other than a pair of yoga pants. In the last year of preparation for the whole marathon deal, yoga has entered my life and thus yoga pants. I have grown to feel they are by far the most comfortable article of clothing in the world and I wore them to ride on the airplane down here. I will never travel by air again wearing anything other than yoga pants. So, there is one piece of crazy creative advice for you. I also have a habit of reading people's books when I stay in their guest rooms. I notice most people store their library in their guest room. My friend has a copy of Julia Cameron's "Walking in This World". I am in the midst of a very different culture and the pace of life is quite different from that of the States. This sentence from the Introduction of "Walking in This World" jumped out at me: "By going slowly, we move quickly through our many layers of defense and denial until we touch the living pulse of creativity within us all." I am hoping that this personal time of going more slowly than I normally do will have this much desired affect. It is hard to slow down the nature of life in the States and I am happy to be experiencing something so different as to give me this opportunity. I'm keeping a little painting journal while I'm here, so I hope to share that with you when I come back! If you can't get away, maybe just put on some yoga pants.
