This past weekend, I had the joy of wandering near my home town at the Lake Eden Arts Festival or in it's shorter name LEAF. Many art forms were represented; visual art, spoken word, music and dance to name a few. The place itself is incredibly beautiful, surrounded by mountains on every side, not to mention the critical mass of excellence in art and the overall community of the event, making the entire experience beautiful and inspiring. One of my new favorite bands played several times over the weekend, Bearfoot. They were wonderful, on point musically and their songs were completely engaging. This one, that I am posting in this video below taken by another LEAF-goer, is entitled "Tell Me a Story". This is the first track from their new album, "American Story". The song reminds me of times that are challenging and desiring to stay at peace by listening to an old story. It is comforting and beautiful. You should check out the rest of their music, definitely does take you to another place. When seeking to live a creative or artful life or just life in general, there are many challenges, speed bumps, roadblocks, creative blocks, hiccups, whatever you may call them. There is perhaps an even greater level of pressure when you are desiring that to be your career, that your art be your life's work by being your actual work and source of income and livelihood. Sometimes it is more than just challenging and can become quite disheartening. Maybe, a song like this is what you or I would need at such a time. At this point in my life I know that it is worth the risk to try for dreams, to really put the effort in them and nurture them. To sit back and never try or never step out is a type of deceptive safety that keeps you unhappy and bored. Not something I am looking for in my life. These are just some thoughts I was pondering while I was wandering around Lake Eden this past weekend and listening to this amazing music. Hope you enjoy this video!

I know! I just love them! I've seen them several times in the last month and they are amazing every time! If you check out their website, they have several free downloads of songs if you want to give them a try before grabbing their cd.
