Ted x Asheville, this is only the beginning...

The inspiration is only the beginning. You must then do something.

I had the privilege of attending the TEDx Asheville conference this past weekend. The theme this year was THE EDGE.

If I only had one word to describe the experience I would definitely use amazing.

There were musicians, athletes, scientists and comedians (just to name a few) who were presenting.

The youngest person ever to solo row a boat across the Atlantic Ocean was there and she shared how she had gone from benchwarmer to extreme athlete. Her next challenge, coming up in a year, was to run one marathon per day for 100 days. Yes, this sounds nuts, but she seemed healthy and sane, so go ahead and push your limits and inspire others!

I can't say enough about all of the presenters, they were amazing. It really made me think about my own edges, the lines I know are out there. The adventurous spirit in me wants to push and cross the lines, while the survivor in me wants to stay safe within limits I feel that I understand and can control. I am so grateful I had the privilege of attending this independently organized TEDx event in my own town and you should definitely check out TED as a resource if you have not yet.

The gentleman who coordinated the event left us with a single thought ( I believe it is a Margaret Mead quote) 'We can't just leave it at inspiration. It must then grow into  curiosity and then into action.'

Below is one of my all-time favorite Ted Talks with speaker, Elizabeth Gilbert, author of 'Eat, Pray, Love'.
