My rhythms are different from time to time. Sometimes I have a lot of energy to pour into my creative work, other times I am drained from the various demands of life and have not a lot to give.
I still show up to the studio and try to focus on something. Sometimes I learn one small thing a day. When I become frustrated with my slow & steady pace is mostly when I compare myself to others. When I see others making leaps & bounds so quickly. Or at least it appears that way when I am moving at a turtle's rate. But one small thing is better than no small things. Small things over an extended period of time add up to big things. Brick by brick, so to speak. Slow & steady is my pace today. I have explored a few things and journaled a bit. Tried out a new glue (didn't like it) and tried a new yarn (still deciding what I think) for my wall installations. I worked a bit on a painting & did some research for future projects. Today was not necessarily a giant "Ah-Ha!" moment kind of day. But the forward momentum is still there; I am still paddling upstream, slow as it may be or seem to be. Days like this are needed. I need to be gracious with myself through them and appreciate them for what they are, beautiful & slow, rainy days. If my life were a movie with a soundtrack, today would have been so much acoustic & strings and I like that a lot about today. How was your day? Was it upbeat & filled with activity? Was it slow & rainy in your town too? Did you receive some news, indifferent or otherwise? I am curious about your pace and rhythms... What affects you? What keeps you going? What slows you down? What do you do about it all?
