The past few weeks have been busy for me.
Busy with the business of busy business...if you know what I mean. I have had deadlines, pick ups, drop offs, sign ups, due dates & all that is filed under any of those categories. It has felt like no matter the hours invested, the list kept getting longer. The funny thing is, I like all of the stuff I have been doing! I actually like it! But why does it seem to come all at once? Does anybody else think that September and October are the two busiest months of the year or is that just me?! It has been a few weeks where it seems like nothing gets totally done in one day, it only gets partially done or half done at best. I have had to remind myself, that though the list be long and full, that what I can do today is enough. If I gave it my all and still was able to eat a healthy meal, get some exercise and a bit of rest and make some marks on a drawing, along with all the rest... then today was a massive success! If that was what I had to give, in the midst of still being a human, then it is enough. Plain and simple. We are not robots, we are not factories and we do not want our creative work to be as such. Then why do we expect factory like production from ourselves? Who knows... I think it is a big myth that we should be that way. Print on demand, microwaves and iPhones, all of which I use, are not the same as a living, breathing person. These last few weeks have forced me to remember: if I have done what I could, then it is enough. Let's know that for ourselves as we engage in our lives creatively.
